Our Farming Philosophy — Sustainable, No-Dig, No Nasties

At The Mump Market Garden, we are an expanding market garden committed to the no-dig method of cultivation. By protecting and nurturing healthy, rich, living soil — the foundation of everything we do — we create the conditions for truly natural growth. Our soil is treated with the respect it deserves, and we rely solely on natural and organic approaches to manage pests and disease.

We operate entirely off-grid and are proud to grow, cultivate and harvest our crops without the use of farm vehicles. As a result, our growing practices have zero reliance on fossil fuels. Instead, we use innovative hand and battery-powered tools, all charged by solar energy. We are honoured to partner with Regenerative Agriculture Tools, whose forward-thinking equipment supports our mission and helps us continue to grow in harmony with nature.

All our packaging is biodegradable, recycled and/or reusable. To help reduce single-use plastics, we are always pleased to take back packaging for responsible reuse wherever possible. Our goal is to operate with zero single-use plastics. We actively repurpose local waste streams as valuable farm inputs — from reused produce boxes to vegetable and coffee waste collected from local businesses, all contributing to our in-house compost production.

Our Vegetables

We grow seasonal vegetables using the no-dig method, without fossil fuels and without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. By fostering healthy, living soil, we encourage biodiversity — something reflected in the exceptional flavour and quality of our produce.
